Roman Paradigm Massage and Therapy is excited to be competing for Massage Therapy Best of the Bay.

Owners Doreen Jattan and Robert Vignoli started their massage business a little more than 4 years ago, but have been in the massage business for over 12 years each. The two owners had very contrasting massage styles with one offering more of a traditional massage and the other consisting more of a sports therapeutic type of massage.

Robert operating as a single massage therapist and sub-leasing out of a hair salon in the Silver Creek area asked Doreen if she would market his services to the Evergreen and Silver Creek Country Club area. Robert wanted to see if a female marketing a male massage therapist would be perceived more favorable in the eyes of the general public-it was.

Doreen Jattan being more “business orientated” than Robert was becoming more and more involved in running his massage business and soon joined forces to work together.

Vote for us “Massage Therapy Best of the Bay”

massage-best-of-the-bay

Get Results Therapy was their first business name and after attending a week long Entrepreneurial workshop in 2006, Roman Paradigm Massage was born.

During these 4 years Doreen and Robert have experimented with many different marketing and business models to settle on what Roman Paradigm Massage is today. And they are seeing solid results both in their daily in-house operations and marketing strategies. A commitment to their massage clients and offering quality deep muscle therapy has allowed them to expand their massage practice twice in the 4 years.

This success has also attracted other quality massage therapists, such as John Dodson, Roger Kittles, Andrea Naugle, Caron Gonzalez and also a Sports Chiropractor named Justin Brink.

Currently their massage business is expanding with projected opening date of May 10th. They will also be updating their massage website to a membership platform and a corporate wellness program all set for 2009. Please help  them continue the success that they are having and vote for their massage business to be the best of the bay.

ART is a Soft Tissue Mobilization Technique

Dr. Brink is a Sports Chiropractor and is now available on Tuesday’s at RPM Therapy in San Jose. Dr. Brink completed his undergraduate studies at California State University of Sacramento with a bachelor’s degree in Biology. He then earned his doctorate from Palmer College of Chiropractic West.

Dr.Brink has also enhanced his knowledge with additional post-doctorate level training. In 2006 he came certified in Active Release Technique as well as a Level 2 Certified Graston Instrument for soft tissue mobilization.  He has also been certified in the HansOn Muscle Therapy, an advanced manual technique using trigger and acupressure points

Why you should you get A.R.T?

If you suffer headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems or muscle aches, numbness or tingling chances are you need ART.

A.R.T. is short for Active Release Technique is used to treat a varies issues related to soft tissue and injuries from repetitive-motion.  This technique is performed by professional on professional athletes or individuals suffering from chronic pain or range of motion issues.

A.R.T now at RPM Therapy

Dr. Justin Brink, is not a massage therapist but a doctor of Chiropractic who specializes in soft tissue work. Dr. Justin Brink is such qualified individual who administers A.R.T. at Roman Paradigm Massage & Therapy.  When Dr. Brink performs A.R.T., he applies pressure in order to find injured areas. During this process, he will examine the texture, tightness, range of motion of your muscle tissue which may have formed scar tissue or muscle adhesions.

If abnormal muscle tissue is found, he will administer an intensive series of massage techniques to move the muscles through its full range of motion therefore, breaking up and relieving surrounding muscle tissues of any adhesions or scar tissue. This also allows for the free flow of blood, lymph fluid and nerve conduction to move through the body and heal the muscle.

Can non-athletes get A.R.T?

Even though A.R.T. is typically used on athletes for sports-related injuries, it is also an effective in treating individuals with chronic headaches, poor posture, frozen shoulders, back and spinal pain as well as carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, sciatica, ankle and knee injury and tennis elbow.  A.R.T. doesn’t require you to undress since this technique can be applied on individuals over their attire.

If you believe that you may be qualified to get this treatment, make an appointment with Dr. Brink and he will examine you to let you know approximately how he will treat you and for how long.  Most of his patients admit that within 6 visits with Dr. Brink, their pain minimizes by 80-100%.  Wouldn’t you want to be pain free?

AROMATHERAPY - By distilling plants and flowers to their most concentrated form, precious and fragrant oils known as “Essential Oils” are produced.

Aromatherapy is the Ancient Art & science of using essential oils to aid in healing imbalances in the physical and subtle bodies. Throughout history the powerful properties of plants have been known by different cultures around the globe: Egyptians, Greeks, French, Romans, & Native Americans.

Each essential oil is made up of concentrated oxygen-charged molecules that are 75-100 times more concentrated than dried herbs. These tiny plant molecules carry the essence or “life force” of the particular plant and are small enough to break the blood brain barrier allowing deep healing & clearing to take place.

Since ancient times these oils have been used to aid in relaxation, improve circulation and facilitate the healing of physical and emotional wounds. The oils can also be absorbed directly into the body by inhalation or by applying them topically to specific “reflex” points on the body or feet during massage or reflexology treatments.

In aromatherapy massage the scents that are used during your massage session are meant to touch a deeper part of you. These can be scents that remind you of a time when you felt happy, safe, relaxed, peaceful or energized. Your emotion elicited by the scent of the essential oil and the sensation of touch - is how aromatherapy massage makes you feel relaxed, stimulated, peaceful or euphoric, depending on their desired emotional response. This combination can also provide stress relief and pain relief, help aid a sleeping disorder or physical condition, or energize the mind and body.

Before your first aromatherapy massage session, your therapist will conduct an initial consultation with you to learn about your desired outcome. Your therapist might ask you about the current state of your work life, home life, physical health and mental state to learn about what you need. Following the consultation, your therapist will select several essential oils specific to your mental and physical conditions, and blend them into a massage oil to be used during your massage.

Aromatherapy massage is a great way to relax and boost your immune system during times of stress: so remember to book your treatment online with Aeriol at RPM Therapy in San Jose today and stay healthy.

Best Massage in San Jose, see our yelp.com massage reviews

It is the most magical time of year supposedly.  The holidays are supposed to bring around feeling of love, joy, and happiness.  However, in reality the holidays can bring about a fair amount of stress.  It seems like during the holidays you never have enough time to do everything that you need to do, and the parking lot at the mall can push you to the brink of patience.  With things like this going on during the holiday season, you cannot help but start to hold stress in your body.

How Can You Tell if You Are Suffering From Holiday Stress?

Some of the most common indicators that you are experiencing holiday stressors is that you start to feel pain in your body.  This pain can be in your legs, feet, neck, shoulders, or even show up as a headache.  This pain is typically an indicator that you are holding stress in your body, and it can manifest itself in tight muscles and even knots in your muscles.

The holidays are so busy that it is difficult to take care of yourself.  However, it is important that you do choose to take care of yourself especially during the holidays or you will not be able to get everything done that you need to.  One of the best ways to take care of your self is to take time out to get a massage.

What Are the Benefits of Massage?

Many people qualify a massage as something that we do when we want to pamper ourselves, but in reality, it is really something that will help you maintain your health and wellness.  In studies, it has been proven that more than 90% of diseases are related to stress.  Even with that statistic, people are reluctant to take time out for themselves.

Massage will actually help to decrease and manage your stress both internally and externally.  Individuals who take the time to have regular massages have experienced drops in anxiety and a better quality of sleep.  They have also reported higher energy levels and better concentration.  Physically massage can lead to better blood circulation.  In fact, the list of benefits can goes on and on and even includes an enhanced immunity system due to the fact that the massage will stimulate your body’s lymph flow.

Something to Remember During the Hustle Bustle of the Holidays

The Christmas season is supposed to be about the spirit of Christmas.  It is important to remember during this busy time that it is actually supposed to be about the joy, magic, and love of the season.  So the next time that you are out shopping for Christmas presents and you are stuck in a long line try not to let the tension of waiting get the best of you.  Instead, use those few minutes to pick up your cell phone, make a call, and schedule your next massage appointment.  Your body will thank you for loving it enough to do so, and while you are there think about getting your loved ones a massage gift certificate because chances are their bodies need it too!

Try Hot Stone Massage for that special holiday gift this Christmas, with our massage gift certificates.

Hot stones are incredibly warm and soothing, instantly relaxing and offering luxurious self-indulgence. If you have never had the sheer pleasure and soul satisfying experience of this type of body pampering, you owe it to yourself to try it.

Massage therapists use the heated stones to send waves of radiant warmth into your body. On certain meridian points a sheet or towel will usually be placed between you and the stones. But mostly the stones are an extension of the therapist hands, having the stones directly connecting to your body, especially along the neck and upper back. The heated stones retain their warmth for up to 5 minutes or longer, adding a deeper more relaxing massage because of the therapeutic aspects of applying heat to your body.

Understanding of hot stone massage

Hot stones are placed along your spine as you lie on the massage table. These stones may also be placed on chakra points on your body where they will be used to stimulate energy at these areas, such as along your chest, abdomen, and spine. As your body enjoys this heat source, your therapist will be at work massaging your back, neck, and limbs with other hot stones held in their hands.

Basalt stones, which are volcanic rocks rich in iron, efficient in absorbing and retaining heat are the most often type used in a hot stone massage. Effective in relaxing muscles, these stones are used to pre-treat the muscles in preparation for deep tissue manipulation.

The firm, studied movements the therapists use are all designed to deliver smooth, heated strokes to tired or tense muscles that soothes them. Each stroke with the hot stones, is aimed at delivering, just the right amount of heated pressure to different groups of muscles. People with joint pain are treated with more heat from the stones and with lighter amounts of pressure, which delivers an ideal therapy for their needs.

Benefits of the hot stone techniques to consider

While people may see a hot stone massage as a simple concept, but it is actually delivering several health benefits at once. Warmth is a great tool to use for knotted, strained, or tense muscles because it is able to help them fully relax. The stones are ideal as a heat source because they can deliver spot treatments to all of your muscles. The massage therapist is also to be able to individualize the style of treatment.

You can request a light pressure or ask them to increase the massage pressure to deliver a deep tissue massage with the hot stones. This treatment will relax your body as it rejuvenates tired or injured muscles. The hot stone massage also creates a refreshed mind and spirit as you feel tensions and worries leave. This type of body therapy   can spur faster healing of joints and tissues and relieve joint aches by improving circulation and blood flow with heat and pressure.

Why you should consider hot stone massage treatments

If you have been under a lot of stress or often have body aches and pains a hot stone session is one of the fastest ways for to balance your body and mind. After this type of treatment, you will feel an immediate sensation of relaxation, calmness and increased energy levels.

This therapy is good for people of any age, and can be used effectively on people with almost any type of health complaint or concern. Even if you are in good health, you will feel refreshed spiritually mentally and physically after a hot stone massage session.

We incorporate ice massage at Roman Paradigm Massage, so you don’t need to be a professional hockey player to get the same treatment as one.

San Jose Sharks are off to a great year and I hope that they make it to final games, so that we can one team to cheer for here in the Bay Area. I recently wrote an article on ice massage for treating pain and inflammation, in that article, I outline how you can use ice and massage together to treat injuries. The Tampa Bay Lightning, as many of the professional teams out there see their fair amount of injuries, as you can imagine, they have all the experts at their disposal, Chiropractors, MD’s, Massage Therapists, and Personal Trainers.

I came across this article, “Spike in strained groins has Tampa Bay Lightning mystified” in the article it tells how the Tamp Bay Lightning have had an increase in groin injuries in the last 3 years. Groin injuries are very difficult to treat because of where the injury occurs and it is very painful. As with all injuries, getting the muscle tissue back to normal is very important, so these athletes and you, can perform your best and be pain-free.

Determining how the problem occur is most important, and implementing a program with a goal of treating the injury and preventing it from happening again. And you do that by…

  1. Muscle testing and checking for range of motion, this is necessary to determine whether the muscle was weak and it was a fatigue factor or was it tight and restricting ROM.
  2. Treating the injury, with massage, ultra-sound or with rest, you need to get the inflammation out as soon as possible.
  3. Adding a strengthening or stretching program, in many cases you will need to do both.

Of course this is a very general outline of what you want to do, but the reason why I am sharing this with you, is to let you know that even if you are not a professional athlete, you will get all the same consideration and professionalism as they get at RPM Therapy.

Roman Paradigm Massage is not a spa massage, you get real therapeutic massages with us, we have several clients who train and work out just like the pros do.
